Fish Camp Day 4

Sadly, today was our last full day at camp. :(  The weather was outstanding - hot - but it's supposed to be that way in June in Texas!

Today, in small group Bible study, we completed our study of Daniel.  Our central truth was that Daniel had served through the reins of three kings.  His life was a consistent witness to these kings and to others who knew him. Daniel's God was the true God of heaven.  The aim was to help campers understand that one way to witness is to be consistent in our obedience to God.

The Western Town Girls won the Clean Cabin and the Green Team won Sticky.  Each awarded that coveted first place in the meal line!

Played some fun games in morning rec - teams of 2 - blindfold on one person.  The other person had to guide them through a "mine field" of random objects lying on the ground and counselors moving around becoming human road blocks.  The person without the blindfold had to guide the other through the mine field by just using voice commands.  It was funny to watch people - we heard a lot of, "Go left, no - your other left!"

It was the last day in their Choice Tracks.  The Cheerleading Track went around to several other tracks and performed a cheer for that track.  The Cooking Track finished up some yummy chocolate goodies and took home a neat cookbook.  The Fashion & Fun Track had a "Spa Day" while the Camp Newspaper reporters were hitting the pavement in search of the latest breaking news!

Campers used up every second of free time enjoying the giant slide from Texas Sumo and of course, the Blob, zip line, ga ga ball, arts and crafts and just hanging out.

The evening events included a worship wrap up with Dreds & Torpedo (worship leaders with funny camp names!) and the last of evening rec games.

The highlight of the night was a hay ride around the ranch complete with a stop at the bon fire with time for making Smores!

The week has been fabulous and God has worked in so many ways - many of which we might never know.  Pray for safe travel tomorrow and that we can get the campers out of bed!!

Will post the other 2 videos early next week.  Having some technical difficulties out so far from civilization!  :)

Enjoy these pics!

Time with God.

Fish Camp Day 3

God gave us the most beautiful day.  The skies are so blue!
In small group Bible Study, we continued our study on Daniel.  The campers learned how there may be times when it is not popular to pray and follow God, but as we continue to be faithful to God, we can trust that He will be faithful to us.  God wants us to get to know Him through prayer.   Daniel learned to pray long before he was faced with the problem of the hungry lions in the lion’s den!
Rec time included lots of water games to keep us “cool”!  Worship and praise time is always uplifting!  Sabine Creek Staffers help lead and they really have some fun and crazy songs!
Clean Cabin award went to Horton A, the 4th grade girls.  Prize for Clean Cabin is first in line at lunch!  The Blue Rec Team won Sticky and the privilege of being first in line at dinner!  This is a great thing when there are 100+ people behind you!!
Campers had many choices for free time - zip line to the blob to arts and crafts in the a/c to the inflatable water slide!
During worship tonight, Marty Lewis, Childhood Minister, presented the Gospel.  Pray for the decisions made and the seeds planted this week.
The Big Event was a ventriloquist, Nancy Wooster.  She was awesome and very entertaining.  The campers loved her and we really could NOT see her mouth moving!!
The nighttime rec was as one camper said, “Totally awesome!”  Similar to capture the flag but played in the dark of night with glow sticks instead of flags!  The entire camp grounds were covered with blue, red, purple & green glow sticks. The campers had to try to get as many sticks as possible and race them to a central location without getting flashlight tagged by the Sabine Creek Rec staff.  Fun, fun, fun!!  Ask your camper about it!
Your prayers are coveted as we head into Day 4!

Fish Camp Day 2

The storm last night was crazy loud!!  Some campers slept through it and others didn’t! J zzzzzzzz
In Small Group Bible Study we talked about “Learning the Rules”. God has always provided us with a way to know what pleases Him.  When we choose to ignore God’s instructions to us we will suffer the consequences.
We read Daniel 2 about King Nebuchadnezzar’s dream and how God used Daniel to help Nebuchadnezzar learn about Him.  Nebuchadnezzar had to leave behind his prideful ways and praise God for being the true God.  Campers learned that God uses the Bible as a tool to teach us about Him.
More wacky Rec Games – The Red Team won the spirit award – Sticky – a mop.   You’ll have to ask your campers about Sticky!!
Free time this afternoon gave the campers time to “Blob” or be “Blobbed”, play on the 40’ inflatable water slide, make purses, wallets, etc. out of duct tape, shoot archery & BB guns and hang with friends.
Pastor Sam Silva, pastor of the Amigos de Dios service at PCBC, came out to camp and talked to us during worship this evening.  He talked about having a hole in your heart and filling it up with “selfish stuff” instead of with Jesus.  It’s not about a religion or a denomination; it’s about a relationship – you and Jesus Christ the son of God!
Continue to pray for good sleep and safety for all!  The Lord is working!

First Day of Fish Camp

We made it!  The campers arrived and got their stuff all organized in their cabins.  We had an "intro" to camp and then off to a yummy dinner.  Worship was in the nice air contioned Worship Center with awesome praise songs and a the Spirit of the Lord all around.  Sam Wilgus, intern for the summer, shared with the campers out of Daniel 1 - about friends and how important it is to surround yourself with good Godly friends. Next we split into our Family Groups for some small group Bible study.  Again, talking about Daniel and what makes a good friend. After Family Groups campers gathered in their Rec Teams and played some wacky games with the most beautiful sunset in the background! The Big Event was magician/illustionist David Slick.  Ask your campers about how he eats fire!!!  No joke!!!

Pray for the campers to stay hydrated, get a good night's sleep and hear what the Lord might be saying to them this week!

Here's some pics from the first day!  Blessings!
